Coco Chanel opens a boutique next to the Hôtel Normandy, where she stays with Arthur “Boy” Capel.

A couture house in Biarritz

She opens a couture salon on Avenue Édouard-VII, a few steps from the Hôtel du Palais.

Cannes, and the idea of N°5

At the Carlton with Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, nephew of Grand Duke Michael, the hotel's backer. They meet the perfumer Ernest Beaux: N°5 will follow.

At 71, she reopens her couture house. She is seen from time to time in the lobby of Le Meurice.

Sleepless nights

An insomniac, she joins her friend Aimée de Heeren, resident of Le Meurice, for night walks to Les Halles and the Cremerie de Paris.
