Queen Margherita of Savoy, mother of King Victor Emmanuel III, stays at the hotel while her new residence across the street, today the US Embassy, is completed; one article dates her visits to 1900–1906.
In gratitude for the care shown to the queen, the owner is allowed to add “Regina” to the hotel's name.
Photographs of Marcello Mastroianni, Audrey Hepburn and Sean Connery on its walls recall the film stars who frequented the hotel.
After a complete restoration, the hotel reopens as the Hotel Baglioni Regina.
The Roman Penthouse is reconfigured as a three-bedroom suite with terraces offering a 360-degree view over Rome.
