History
• 1824: Initial construcion of the Building as a residential appartment house.
• 1870: Acquisition of the building by a newly created corportaion called « Hotel Jewropeiskaja ».
• 1875 January 28: Opening of the Grand Hotel.
• 1910: Renovation of the Hotel giving an Art Nouveau style with becors by Fyodor Lidval and Leon Benois.
• 1917: The Hotel is confiscated by the Bolchevic regime after the Russian Revolution.
• 1941-1944: During the Nazi blokade of St Petersburg the Hotel is transformed into a military hospital with 1300 beds.
• 1950: Reopening as a Hotel Jewropeiskaja.
• 1989: Major Renovation of the Hotel.
• 1991: Reopening as « Grand Hotel Europe » under the Kempinski Brand.
• 2005: Acquisition by Orient Express Hotels.
• 2010: Photoshooting by Appelrath Cüper with the models Katrin Thormann and Geoffroy Jonckheere.
• 2015: Renovation
