Initial construcion of the Building as a residential appartment house.
1870
Acquisition of the building by a newly created corportaion called « Hotel Jewropeiskaja ».
1875 January 28
Opening of the Grand Hotel.
1910
Renovation of the Hotel giving an Art Nouveau style with becors by Fyodor Lidval and Leon Benois.
1917
The Hotel is confiscated by the Bolchevic regime after the Russian Revolution.
1941-1944
During the Nazi blokade of St Petersburg the Hotel is transformed into a military hospital with 1300 beds.
1950
Reopening as a Hotel Jewropeiskaja.
1989
Major Renovation of the Hotel.
1991
Reopening as « Grand Hotel Europe » under the Kempinski Brand.
2005
Acquisition by Orient Express Hotels.
2010
