German architects Johann Friedrich Henkenhaf and Friedrich Ebert build the Kurhaus, combining a concert hall with a 120-room hotel.
After a serious fire, the building is rebuilt; the Brussels painter Van Hoeck and his workshop decorate the ceilings.
In its heyday the Kurhaus welcomes several kings and heads of state, and remains a major concert venue until the mid-1960s.
The Rolling Stones play the Kurhaus and have to escape the building, overwhelmed by crowds of fans.
Ike & Tina Turner perform here; the concert, broadcast by Dutch television, is later released on DVD.
Threatened with demolition, the Kurhaus is saved by its listing as a historic monument and fully renovated.
The hotel reopens in the presence of Princess Beatrix.
The hotel takes the name Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus The Hague.
