Founded by members of the Kadoorie family The Peninsula was built with the idea that it would be "the finest hotel east of Suez". Hotel opened in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The Peninsula was used for a scene in the superhero film The Dark Knight, involving actors Morgan Freeman and Chin Han, who played Lucius Fox and Lau, respectively.
