Phebe and Frederick C. Buffum build the first Weekapaug Inn on a strip of land between Quonochontaug Pond and the Atlantic.
The New England Hurricane destroys the inn.
The Buffums rebuild the inn across the pond from its original site and reopen it.
After 108 years of Buffum family management, the inn closes for renovation and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The renovated inn joins Relais & Châteaux.
