Lluís Domènech i Montaner begins the modernista mansion for Mariano Fuster i Fuster and his wife Consol Fabra i Puig.
The Fuster-Fabra family moves in. With red stone columns, white marble and trefoil windows, it is the architect’s last town house.
The family leaves, the upkeep being too costly; the ground-floor Café Vienés later becomes a haunt of artists and society.
The power company ENHER buys the building to replace it with offices; public protest and press campaigns save it from demolition.
Renovation work on the house begins.
Hoteles Center acquires the building.
After a costly restoration by GCA (architects Josep Juanpere and Josep Riu) preserving vaults, columns and ornament, it opens as a five-star hotel.
