The Bishop of Liège authorises a walled monastery for the Crosiers, on land donated by Gilles of Elderen.
The Gothic church is built by master builders Petrus Toom and Johannes van Haeren; the choir is consecrated in 1470.
With the monastery wings completed, the complex takes the form it will keep for some 500 years.
After the French capture of Maastricht the monastery is dissolved; the buildings become an arsenal and barracks.
The State Agricultural Testing Station moves in and government architect Jacobus van Lokhorst restores the complex.
Government architect Daniël Knuttel renovates the church.
The City of Maastricht sells the complex to entrepreneur Camille Oostwegel.
Architect Rob Brouwers converts the listed monastery into a design hotel using a reversible “box in box” approach.
The hotel opens and receives the city’s Victor de Stuers monument prize; Henk Vos wins a European Design Award.
Named hotel of the year by the Dutch Gault Millau guide.
Officially classified five-star, the only one in Maastricht and Limburg.
