Diplomat Georges Neyt builds the manor, inspired by French architecture; he dies in 1910, shortly after moving in.
Neyt’s heirs sell the estate to Edmond Dresse; it becomes known as the “little Versailles of the Ardennes”.
Edmond Dresse is granted the title “Dresse de Lébioles”.
High-ranking prisoners of war, including Franz von Papen and Admiral Miklós Horthy, are held at the manor.
The Dresse family enlarges and renovates the manor, staging plays, hunts and concerts there.
The Société Immobilière de Belgique buys the manor (the Dresse family stays until 1981); it later passes to a family of hoteliers who run it as a charming hotel.
The hoteliers sell; the building is left to decline for several years.
A full restoration rebuilds the chimneys and staircases and reveals the historic floors before reopening as a luxury hotel.
