The building at Vene 9 is completed to designs by St Petersburg architect Peter Schreiberg; it first houses a bank.
The building becomes home to the Estonian Central Telegraph Office, the city’s main communications hub, which gives the hotel its name.
A neighbouring building on the site, standing until 1940, burns down during the Second World War; it is later rebuilt as the hotel’s new wing.
Hotel Telegraaf officially opens after a renovation that preserves the building’s heritage.
The hotel belongs to Marriott’s Autograph Collection and holds the Green Key eco-label.
