The Grand Hôtel du Muveran adds a festival hall, the first theatre in the Vaud Alps.
Built for Charles Genillard by two architects from Bex, the Villars Palace opens on Christmas Eve.
A sports building and a swimming pool are added.
Major renovations follow the war; the neighbouring Grand Muveran burns down, and only its theatre survives, later part of the Palace.
Club Med buys the Palace and reopens it as one of its villages.
A complete refurbishment raises the village to Club Med’s 4-Trident category.
After some fifty years, Club Med leaves; Jérôme de Meyer and Marco Dunand acquire the property.
Following a two-year refurbishment, the Villars Palace is inaugurated as a five-star hotel.
