The Dolder Grand Hotel & Curhaus is built to designs by Basel architect Jacques Gros for the restaurateur Heinrich Hürlimann.
The hotel opens on the hillside, served by the Dolderbahn that Hürlimann had built for his nearby Waldhaus hotel.
A first extension is added to the building.
The hotel is extended a second time.
Urs Schwarzenbach becomes the majority shareholder.
The hotel closes for a complete renovation led by Norman Foster, costing CHF 440 million.
The Dolder Grand reopens: later additions are removed, the 1899 appearance restored, and two new wings built alongside.
It becomes the first Swiss luxury hotel to accept bitcoin as payment.
