A private mansion is built at 7 rue de Berri for the politician Jacques Drake del Castillo.
Swiss hotelier Émile Wolf buys the mansion, adds four storeys and turns it into a hotel, decorated with his art collection.
Marlene Dietrich moves in for three years, redecorating her suite and leaving behind an Érard grand piano.
Shortly before the war, Dietrich receives Joachim von Ribbentrop here, refusing his offer to film in Germany while hiding Erich Maria Remarque in her bathroom.
Guests include Noël Coward, Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten.
The hotel is taken over by the Savoy group.
It is sold to the interior designer Grace Leo-Andrieu.
After Spanish and then French family ownership (SD2P), the hotel passes to a French family that also owns the Burgundy in Paris.
